Responses:

Q: Will any money from the levy go towards the community park, and if so how much and how often?
A: No monies from this Fire/EMS levy will go towards the park or any other township area. State law dictates these monies can only be used for our Fire/EMS department.

Q: If I own a $150K house, how much will the new levy cost me?
A: Approximately $90.45

Q: If the levy passes, will the Fire Dept. be buying new trucks, new equipment, and a building a new building now?
A: There are currently no plans to build a new fire station, unless we receive a Federal grant that was applied for this year, of which 100% funding was requested. It would not be financially possible to purchase all new trucks and gear within the next year or even the next five years. The levy will not generate enough money to make all these purchases in that time frame. A portion of the money will be set aside into a capital fund to help plan for future purchases of these items. The levy will allow for this over a period of time, while not having to come back and ask for more money or another levy. All fire/EMS expense can and will be paid for from these funds, including operating expenses. It will take years worth of savings to make all the major purchases. Most mayor purchases could be expected to be made over the next 15 years.

Q: Why wasn’t a lesser levy amount asked for and purchases and cost spread out over a greater period?
A: It was determined that instead of asking for a levy this year and then having to come back and repeatedly ask for levy after levy, this levy would make the Fire Dept. solvent for many years to come while allowing for long term planning, much like the philosophy that was incorporated when the last levy was passed back in 1981.

Q: I would like to know if the levy passes, will the life squad membership fee ever be put back into effect?
A: If the levy passes, there would be no reason to re-incorporate the life squad membership fee.
