Hanover School Memorial Park

Hanover Township has been aggressive in responding to a Township Citizen Survey that identified park expansion as a high priority for the township. The Township has purchased additional land and has made many develops to the 18 acres located at the intersection of Morman Road and State Route 130. The park consists of a Veterans’ Memorial, .55 walking/jogging path, children’s playground, picnic shelters, restrooms, a small baseball diamond, large gazebo, onsite grills, and expanded parking area. The gazebo and small Shelter #2 are available for reservation. Ideas under consideration for the future include fitness stations along the walking path, additional shelters, new enhanced restroom facilities, nature preserve area, new playground equipment, and rubberized safety surface for the Children’s Playground. The successful development of this park is the direct result of partnerships formed with Butler County and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Over $258,000.00 in matching grant funds have been obtained by the Township and applied to park development.

The park has increased in use and now is becoming an all year destination due to the addition of the walking path. In addition, the Township sponsors three major events in the Park: Kids Fest in June, Classic Car and Truck Show in August, and Veterans Ceremony and luncheon in November. To assist with planning and events associated with the park, the Board of Trustees has appointed a six member Park Ad Hoc Advisory Committee to work with the Township Administrator and make recommendations regarding park expansion and recreation activities. Members of the committee include Mike Tilton, Chairperson, Jeff Buddo, Robert Krieger, Angela Jester, Joe Pyfrin and Stephanie Lentz who serve an 18 month term.
