Leadership Academy - General Workshop


All participants in the Academy must complete the basic course, Public Officials and Public Service, which is about the requirements and challenges of service in public office in Ohio. The program is designed to provide participants with an overview of the basic issues, expectations and practices associated with serving in any public office in Ohio. The workshop will focus on the principles and practices that will provide a framework for improving your tenure and service in public office. Topics include:

      • Avoid Personal Attacks - "focus on issues not individuals"
      • Return Your Calls/Be Accessible/Keep Your Word
IV.  Conflict of Interest
 
      • Using and Abusing the Office - "the ice is very thin"
      • Contracts for Private Gain
      • Manipulation of Contracts, Purchases, Employment
V.  Open Meetings Laws
 
      • The Public's Business
      • Sunshine Law / Open Meetings
