Leadership Skills and Styles

Description: Do you know your leadership style? Do you know the leadership styles / types of others on your Board / Council? Do you know that understanding leadership styles and types can help improve our interpersonal relationships and the effectiveness of the Board / Council? This is a workshop about the concepts, principles and practices that can provide a framework to improve the operations and effectiveness of your governing body and your personal decision making.

 

I. Establishing Your Leadership Style - An Assessment

 
      • Each Participant Will Complete One or Two Assessment Instruments Designed to Help Each Participant Discover His or Her Leadership and Decision Making Style
II. Interpreting and Understanding the Meaning of Various Leadership Styles
 
      • A Discussion of Leadership Styles Will Help Each Participant Better Understand the Ways That Different Individuals Work and Make Decisions

III. Understanding the Different Roles / Types of Leaders

 
      • Opportunistic Leader - Find a Parade and Get In Front
      • Situational Leader
      • Facilitator
      • Empowerer
      • Transactional and Transformational Leaders

IV. Applying Your Leadership Style and Different Leadership Roles and Styles To Your Government
