Community Reinvestment Areas - Village of New Madison

The Village of New Madison is located in Darke County. According to the 2000 U.S. Census, the Village encompasses .37 square miles and has 817 residents. In spring of 2007, the Village contacted the Center for Public Management for assistance in creating a Community Reinvestment Area program. The Center provided technical assistance during the development and implementation of the Village's CRA program. The Village's CRA program provides real property tax abatements on qualified residential, commercial, and industrial projects within the Village.

Village of New Madison Housing Survey: The Ohio Revised Code requires a community to complete a comprehensive housing survey before passing legislation that approves a CRA program. The housing survey must show sufficient evidence of disinvestment in order for the CRA petition to be approved by the Ohio Department of Development.
 

 

 

Legislation: The Village's enacting legislation was approved by Village Council on May 21, 2007 and reprinted in The Daily Advocate on May 24 and May 31, 2007.
